A note on the validation of applications delivered via the Planning Portal

On receipt of the application, the authority determines whether it is valid based upon the information submitted. Applications are checked to ensure appropriate information and documentation has been received to enable the authority to make a determination of the proposal.

If the authority deems that the application is invalid, the applicant/agent will be contacted to supply further information. Generally an authority will allow 14 days for submission of the information and on receipt, will continue to register, validate and proceed to make a decision based upon the complete application.

Please note that the additional information needed to process an application may differ between authorities, National Parks, Metropolitan Boroughs or District Councils.
